EVALUATION OF A CHILD WITH OBESITY
As in adults, a clinical visit for an overweight or obese child should include a clinical history of the child and their family, a physical evaluation, as well as a series of complementary tests to help to determine if any associated illness exists, or in some cases genetic or endocrine causes for the weight disorder of the child. The dietary history is important, as much to establish errors in eating, as to determine a long term treatment plan.
